Product Description

For even the most seasoned attorneys, defending DUI cases has always presented special challenges. Today, due to legislative developments, the introduction of incredibly sophisticated blood alcohol-testing technologies, and an increasingly harsh prosecutorial climate, mounting a successful defense is more difficult than ever. That's why attorneys rely on Drunk Driving Defense.

Written by Lawrence Taylor and Steven Oberman, Drunk Driving Defense has been selected as the official textbook of the National College for DUI Defense and is generally considered to be the standard-bearing reference in the field.

Drunk Driving Defense ensures that you understand the chemical, biological and technological concepts and issues underlying DUI prosecution and defense. Rely on authors Taylor and Oberman to bring you up to speed in key areas including:

The key defects inherent in blood and breath analysis and testing.
The correlation between blood alcohol concentration and actual impairment.
The effects of stress and cold weather on alcohol absorption.
How fermentation of the blood sample may raise blood alcohol levels.
The affect of acetone in breath tests taken by diabetics and dieters.
Possible errors in breath analysis due to FI (radio frequency interference).
The effect of trauma from an automobile accident on alcohol elimination
And more

Drunk Driving Defense, Sixth Edition contains dozens of practical tools to streamline and simplify the complex DUI defense process. And now, they are all included on a free bonus CD-ROM - so you can locate, review and print them out in a matter of seconds.

Customer Reviews

Helpful, but not state specific enough.

Review Date: August 12, 2010
Reviewer: Phil,
It was too in depth for what I was looking for. It is very detailed about the various chemical and sobriety tests. Also, it covers the law of many states, but was not specific about what the law is in each state. I would have preferred a California specific practice guide.
One of the best for DUI defense.

Great book and a good start to anyone who wants to find out how to defend a DUI case.
Best Book of it's Kind

Reviewer: Patrick T. Barone, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan
I read this book for the first time more than a decade ago when I first became a serious student of the DUI laws and the defense of those accused of them. Since then I've read dozens of books, and have even written a couple of them.Defending Drinking Drivers. Larry Taylor's book still stands without equal as the best of its kind. Highly recommended.

Not what I expected. My fault to some extent

Review Date: October 5, 2009
Reviewer: John G. Martens, Ames, Iowa
The product I ordered was apparently an old yearly supplement to the book "Drunk Driving Defense". I paid way to much for a supplement book that was outdated and probably discarded by someone who bought the new supplement.

I don't remember the ad and it may have been my fault for not being more observant.
Bad Law

Review Date: May 22, 2009
Reviewer: book reader,
I opened the book to a random page and read an excerpt from an appellate case.* It struck me as odd, so I looked the case up. Turns out, the cited case was reversed 6 months after it was published, and 20 years before this book was published. To me, that automatically makes this book unacceptable.
