Being a Cincinnati DUI lawyer kept Randall on the go. Anyone who knows the case load of Cincinnati DUI lawyers could tell you that. A typical day saw Randall up early in the morning and in to work before many had even had their breakfast. Often the last in his building to leave, Randall was burning the candle at both ends. The hectic daily grind Randall lived left little time for anything else. He was proud of the time given to his work and he knew he was serving his clients to the very best of his ability. Yet, work was all consuming in his life and one day he realized his life was very much askew. He knew that he needed to develop some interests outside of a work capacity. In fact his doctor suggested that doing so would preserve his health, both physical and mental. The following are some free time activities Randall decided to pursue to improve his life physically and mentally. If you are looking to balance a heavy work schedule with some beneficial free time activities, consider getting involved in something from the following list of possibilities.

• Get a membership at a fitness center.

• Take a daily walk each morning or evening.

• Meet a friend for coffee once a week.

• Join a book club.

• Give of your time to a not for profit organization.

• Pursue opportunities in church activities or services.

• Learn a musical instrument.

• Volunteer in your school district or become a member of the PTA.

• Participate in a recreation league or at the YMCA in the sport or activity of your choice.

• Learn to sew or crochet.

• Take a cooking or baking class.

• Plan quality time with your loved ones.

• Catch up on lost sleep one or two mornings a week.

• Nurture current friendships by going to a ball game or out to dinner with friends.

• Plant and maintain a vegetable garden.

• Take a college class in a subject you have always been interested in.

These are just several good suggestions for how a workaholic like Randall can begin to make some easy adjustments to a very busy work schedule. While a hard worker is an asset to both his boss and his client, burning the candle at both ends really does lead to burn out and a gradual deterioration in personal health. Additionally, over time, job performance can also be impacted, as an overly tired worker cannot possibly function at optimal performance levels. By bringing balance to an every day schedule and by including relaxation activities into a hectic schedule you are well on your way to preserving physical and mental health. Avoid the temptation of over-indulging in any one area, whether that be work or relaxation. It can be particularly tempting for someone who has never made time for fun to suddenly go overboard in that direction. Keep in mind that moderation is so very essential when it comes to prioritizing all of the wonderful activities of your life. Making time for hard work, hobbies, relaxation, relationships, spiritual pursuits, and volunteer activities can bring value and overall purpose to your life.
