If the small enterprise has not had to recover any bad debts before now and has contracted with the large enterprise for a long period, this unpaid account may come as a bolt from the blue. It may not be so abnormal, given that the country is still in a poor financial situation, that some companies have to make serious decisions about how to stay in business. It may be that the large enterprise is in just such a state and feels that restructuring is more urgent than paying an account. From the small enterprise situation the payment of their account is a high priority since it can mean a big difference to their cash flow and if they see that the large enterprise is delaying things then the small enterprise may feel that Debt Collection is their only option.

When the small enterprise takes a look to see what Debt Collection choices are out there they may well see the usual solutions of lawyers and Debt Collection Agencies as the safest option and a DIY solution such as Debt Collection Software as not worth bothering with. Their misgivings over Debt Collection Software may be over the perceived risks; perhaps the large enterprise may not take Debt Collection letters seriously if they weren’t sent from a lawyers or Debt Collection Agencies. They may also fear that they may spend money on a Debt Collection Software application only to find that it requires a better specification system than they have available. Finally they may fear that they spend money and time on the Debt Collection Software and writing Debt Collection letters but are still unable to get the large enterprise to pay the account.

These doubts are largely unproven, since the large enterprise is more likely look at the Debt Collection letters content rather than its overall look and feel. By doing enough research the small enterprise should be able to find out what a range of Debt Collection Software systems need in terms of ICT equipment and so should avoid the upgrade trap. Finally, the chances of failure are surely a lower risk than starting up a enterprise in the first place and if the owners of the small enterprise have enough entrepreneurial spirit to do that then clearly the challenge of having Debt Collection Software to deliver the goods would not be beyond them or their people. Debt Collection Software can start from £40 for a decent application, certainly worth the risk.

The usual Debt Collection solutions of lawyers and Debt Collection Agencies may be safer if the small enterprise wants to be fairly sure of getting the account paid, but this comes at a price, something like 10% to 20% or more of the final account value, which could be a significant trade-off to a small enterprise. Also, in this recession there are more Debt Collection Agencies and lawyers offering commercial Debt Collection offering their services but can they all be trusted to treat the large enterprise with professional respect or will they use any methods they see fit to recover the debt and so possibly ruin the working relationship that the small enterprise has built up. So if the small enterprise doesn’t pick from the good lawyers or Debt Collection Agencies they may be in trouble.
