According to a recent study, car accidents ranked ninth out of the top ten causes of death worldwide. Over 40,000 Americans die in car crashes every year. What causes car accidents most of the time?
Negligent Drivers
Negligent drivers come in many forms. Aggressive driving, inexperience and alcohol play a major part in negligent driving.
Rubbernecking or taking your eye off the road in front of you to look at something else is the most common form of negligent driving. It is illegal to drive whilst under the influence of alcohol in the US and the UK. It is not acceptable to break this law. drunk drivers cause forty percent of all deaths on the road. When inexperienced teenage drivers get behind the wheel without someone with more experience accidents are more likely to occur. 25% of accidents on the road involve a teenager. Aggressive driving like lane hopping and getting too close to other road users is another way in which accidents are caused.
The Cars
Road traffic accidents might be caused by faulty car parts, bad vehicle design and bad car maintenance. A car with a bad design might be more likely to get damaged and the driver die. For example, the design of an SUV is less stable than that of a car designed to carry passengers.
Road and weather conditions
man cannot control the weather of course. However choosing to come out on the road without first taking into consideration the weather and road condition may also be considered negligence on the part of the driver.
How can I avoid car accidents?
To avoid as many accidents as possible, you should always drive responsibly. If you have not had your license long, go out with an experienced driver. Never drive after drinking alcohol. Do not get distracted by sights on the road when you are driving. make sure you park up in a safe place if you do have to get out. make sure you are prepared for any extreme weather conditions before going on long journeys. Make sure and check your vehicle for any problems even before you hit the road. It is better to be prepared and safe than getting into an accident on the road.
