Construction sites are perhaps the most dangerous place to work. Because only fit construction workers can work and because injuries are frequent, accident claims are very common in this sector.

Some of the risks that are present on construction sites include the use of dangerous equipment, hazardous materials, physically demanding work, working at height, exposure to asbestos and use of heavy machinery.With all of these dangers present in the day to day working environment, employers and site managers have the legal duty to provide correct, appropriate and current safety equipment and information. Employers must also ensure that employees take regular breaks to ensure they can concentrate.

In the UK, the Health and Safety Commission is responsible for safety regulations. In conjunction with the Construction (Design & Management) 2007 regulations, the commission works to ensure risk of accident is as small as possible.

Injured workers who can prove that their employer didn’t follow health and safety rules or didn’t do all that was possible to safeguard employees are entitled to and accident claim.Following the injury, the victim should collect as much information as possible about what happened, including the names and addresses of witnesses. The reason for the importance of witnesses is that construction sites are constantly changing and it might be that the cause of the injury is removed or changed as building continues.
