If you are hailed by a Las Vegas police officer on the idea of drunk driving, there are two things to bear in mind to do: 1) converse politely with the officer, and 2) decline any alcohol test unless you have a Las Vegas DUI Attorney or Las Vegas DUI Lawyer present. The thing is, in Las Vegas or Nevada in that case you can licitly refuse field sobriety tests if you so desire and over 21 years old, that right guaranteed by the Constitution. Acutally, you can even refuse to answer questions without your lawyer being present, a right particularly stated in the reading of the Miranda Rights with any arrest.

Even if DUI might be merely a simple legal offense, it is still troublesome to undergo. So perhaps the better way is to understand how much alcohol you can take and still be below the DUI level of alcohol level, thus passing any field sobriety tests on the road. The secret is to understand how alcohol functions and distresses the body and the tolerable volume for you.

How alcohol spreads within you

When you imbibe alcohol in your drink, the alcohol is absorbed by your digestive system, mostly by the small intestine, and is moved into the bloodstream. The blood then takes it all over the whole body including the brain and the nervous system parts. A balance of sorts is achieved after delivery in that all areas of the body may contain the same volume of alcohol as per the blood volume. Incorrect speech, slowed motor reactions and wobbly walking are a few of the general effects. When the level reaches to 0.35 g/100 ml of blood, alcohol can be fatal.

Elimination

However the liver attempts to start disposing of the alcohol via energy consumption as soon as it is detected. Small vlumes are also expelled in breaths, saliva, sweat, urine and feces, so that there is a unique odor of drunkenness in most inebriated persons. Alcohol is eliminated at a fairly average rate of 15 milliliters per hour, except when the amounts are too high or too low, when disposal goes more quickly. Habitual alcoholics also discard alcohol comparably faster, the speed based on on their livers' health.

Endurance

Alcohol endurance depends mostly on the particular person's body construction. Bigger persons naturally distribute alcohol over a greater mass so there is less concentration. Likewise, well-muscled individuals appear to sop up alcohol better than persons with more fat in their bodies, because fat has less water. Women, generally having more fat than men of the same weight, will also tolerate alcohol less than men, but curiously discard alcohol about 10% faster. Even so the tolerance drops as the person gets older.

The thing you might do

As rules of thumb, men 18-40 years old have more or less 61% liquid in their bodies, but women have 52%. After 60, men may have 51% water and women 46%. Since tolerable alcohol level is about 0.03-0.25 g/100 ml of blood or body water, the ploy is to limit alcohol imbibitions up to those amounts, and imbibe additional alcohol only at the personal speed of purging. That way, you might avoid a DUI charge.
