Margie Levine's very personal and inspirational story offers hope along with pragmatic steps to empower one's self to take charge of their own medical challenge. I read this book because I have several friends who are dealing with their own struggles with cancer. After completing Margie's book, I felt it most certainly would give them a new perspective on coping and taking charge of their own situations. This is a terrific book and I highly recommend it.
Inspiring Book!

I could not put this book down!

Review Date: November 2, 2001
Reviewer: Gail McMeekin, Author of The Power of Positive Choices and The 12 Secrets of Highly Creative Women
I accidentally discovered this inspiring book and could not put it down. It is not only one woman's lifesaving testimony, it is truly a roadmap for finding rejuvenation in each day! As both a health education teacher and social worker, Margie offers a practical and integrated aproach toward self-healing which we can all learn from. In 1989, diagnosed with deadly asbestos cancer, Margie was given only 6 months to live. With sheer grit and determination, she persuaded Boston doctors to set up her own medical protocol which she then developed into her 41 steps to wellness. She is truly a role model for all of us. I truly enjoyed it and highly recommend it to all my clients and everyone I know. Chapters include: creating the best possible team of physicians and loved ones to help you to heal, maximizing nutrition using veggie dosing, using visualization to create your own affirmation tape, ridding your cells of harbored anger with a 6 point forgiveness program, building up endorphins by seeking joy, and using creative meditation techniques. I'm certainly now eating lots more brocolli!

There is nothing more terrifying than being a victim of crime. Even if it is a relatively minor occurrence and you come out of it safe, it can really mess with your sense of trust. You don’t feel comfortable in a crowd anymore. You check down blind alleys when you’re walking out at night. You even feel hesitant talking to strangers. And of course, a major crime can ruin your life or even end it. This is why San Diego crime prevention should be everyone’s priority. The good news, of course, is that crime rates have been steadily falling for quite a while now.

Although there are some areas where the rate of crime in San Diego has increased over the last couple years, for most communities crime prevention programs are already in place. A lot of the simply has to do with better technology. Law and order folks will talk about get tough on crime approaches, but what is really working is computing. Crime case management has all been digitized now, so police in CA departments can access criminal records very quickly and cross-reference for the information they need. This means they can find out where a criminal is, where he is likely to strike next, and any other essential information much more quickly, helping to stop crime before it starts.

Understandably, for many private citizens this isn’t enough. Crime prevention on a societal level is all well and good, but you also want to take precautions to keep yourself and your family safe. One new technology that has shown a lot of promise for preventing crime is the use of RFID transmitters. You put small transmitters on all your possessions, allowing them to be tracked if they are stolen. The neat things about these fairly inexpensive little transmitters is that you can track them anywhere.

CA home security officers can check stolen property to see if it has been tagged no matter where it is recovered. Although this isn’t exactly crime prevention (since it only helps once something has been stolen), it minimizes the damage and helps apprehends the guilty parties. I’ve heard tales about people getting their stolen stereos back months after they were taken in the first place. Still, the very best and most indispensable crime prevention technology is intelligence.

If you want to prevent crime, think about what risks you are currently taking. Is your house locked up securely? Is your neighborhood a safe one? Do you go into unsafe neighborhoods? Do you carry pepper spray, mace, or some other sort of self-defense weapon? Just a few simple precautions can really go a long way towards keeping you safe. Most criminals are looking for an easy victim. Just proving that victimizing you won’t be easy is enough to deter the typical attacker

I grew up on legal dramas and always assumed that I would be an expert witness as an adult. In so many of the dramas, the Rancho Santa Fe’s expert witness made the final difference in outcome of the case. Sometimes they would come up with the most fantastically difficult and obscure deductions, confounding both defense and prosecution by adding that one crucial piece of evidence. Although your typical expert court witness on TV was a villain as often as a hero, when he was heroic, he was impressive to behold.

I didn’t end up being an expert witness, but I did grow up to be a lawyer. I suppose the reason was that as a kid, I didn’t know what kind of expertise I wanted to have. There are San Diego’s expert witlessnesses in pretty much any field. There are, of course, medical witnesses, psychiatrists, and forensic experts, but there are also people with more obscure areas of expertise. In one case, I even hired an expert handwriting witness to help prove that my client couldn’t have written a particular forged check.

The one thing that has consistently struck me since becoming a lawyer is that the courtroom isn’t nearly as a dramatic a place as you would think. Sure there is a lot at stake, but for the most part the action is rather prosaic. An expert witness testimony in Rancho Santa Fe won’t shake a case because, for every expert for the prosecution, there is likely to be one for the defense, and vice versa. The key is to have better spoken experts to play more flawlessly into your legal strategy than your opponents experts to into his.

Not every expert witness services in San Diego is a highly well-known, highly respected figure in his or her field, but they do all have certain things in common. Most professional experts are extremely good speakers, eager to hire out their testimony for a substantial fee. They are well versed in the art of working with legal counsel to examine the case in detail and give effective testimony.

They also know how to say “no” when they can’t in good conscience represent one side’s position against the other. All in all, a good expert expert witness services in San Diego has to be an expert in the art of speaking as much as in a particular area of science. No matter how knowledgeable an expert is otherwise, he won’t be able to win a case if he can’t make his point heard.

There are things that we know we should never do. Drunk driving in San Diego is one of those things. There are some that do this all of the time, and those are the people that are better off without a license and should be getting some treatment. However, there are some people that will make a once in a lifetime mistake that can ruin their lives. Driving while intoxicated is never a good idea, but some very good and responsible people can make one bad choice. If that happens to you, you want to find a good lawyer that knows the law about this and can help you out.

A drunk driving lawyer is going to tell you all that could happen to you. If you are on your first and hopefully only offense, you may be able to get the punishments lowered. Though you should always take full responsibility for what you have done, and recognize how dangerous this is to you, your family and everyone else, you can ask for a second chance. You may not get out of all fines and punishments for drunk driving accident in Del Mar, but you may not have to face the full extent of what some get when they are arrested.

First, be sure your record is clean and go see your Del Mar’s drunk driving attorney. Your biggest worry may not be about fines and even a few days in jail, but rather, your ability to drive your car. Some who are caught drunk driving will lose their license for a period of time that can be up to one year in some places. It depends on where you live. On your first offense, you may be able to get your license back, even if it is a limited one that only allows you to go to and from work. You do have to worry about the welfare of your children in this case.

What a good drunk driving attorneys in San Diego can do for you will depend on your past records, your standing in the community, and also how remorseful you seem to be about what you have done. If you seem to be a good family person with no other obvious alcohol problems, you may find things lowered for you. Your lawyer can tell you what you can expect and what they may be able to do for you. If you aren’t sure where you can find drink driving lawyers in your area, look in your local yellow pages, or look online for listings and even direct links to those that can help you out in your time of need.

There are a few things in life that you can breeze through, but one of them is not signing contracts. There are some good contract forms in San Diego out there, but if you are not presented with one of these, you do not know what you are getting into. Even when it comes to confronting a contract that is considered to be a good one, you have to read it, see what you do and do not like, and then negotiate until you are sure you are good with what is expected of you and the other party.

There are all types of contract forms out there. What you should do is think of them as a starting point for a solid contract for whatever it is that is going on. Some are simple and some are more complex. The most common use of contract form in San Diego is probably leases. There are many different types out there, and landlords often find the one that fits their needs and that is what they go with. Some alter them a bit, but many do not. They like what they see and they go with it. If you have signed a lease, you could have signed a standard form lease. As long as it is fair, there is no harm in that.

What you have to be careful with is terms that are ambiguous if you find them in contract forms you are asked to sign. If someone says they are going to make a ‘good faith effort,’ run the other way. Never sign something that vague. You have to make sure you are not signing something that is going to cost you a lot of money when the other person does not really have to give you anything. That is why a lawyer is always a good idea before you sign any type of contract whether they are contractor forms in La Jolla or not.

You should also think about the terms of time in contract forms that are presented to you. If you are in entertainment, for example, it is never a good idea to sign something for an agent that is more than one year initially. A good contract in this aspect spells out what someone is going to do for you in detail, and is shorter in length. It then has an option to renew should both parties be pleased with how things are going. Beware of business contract forms in La Jolla that state you have to pay for someone after the contract has expired. That is never a good idea and should also send you running for the hills.

The most trusting people in the world are the ones that do not take time with contract forms. Use them if you wish, but make sure all parties understand all of the terms. These can be great for simple transactions when both parties are in agreement with everything stated. You can find these in many places, and some are free. There are also some you can download online for a small fee. Whatever way you go, just make sure it works for you or look somewhere else.

All of the crime shows on TV nowadays have driven DNA forensics to a higher level of popularity than ever before. It used to be that the focus was on good old detective work in the cop shows. People liked to see detectives using reason and logic to prevail over criminals in a test of mental ability. Nowadays, however, people are much more fascinated by the scientific aspect of it.

We live in such a high-tech society that it exerts a powerful influence over our fantasy lives. Instead of picturing ourselves as honest, straight shooting cops, we like to imagine ourselves as high-tech crime solving wizards, able to use the latest in technology to find the needle in the haystack. I remember first wanting to work in a forensic dna testing in San Diego crime lab when I was reading some detective story that hinged on fingerprint identification.

Back then, things were much less sophisticated, but the essential technologies were still the same. I went to school for DNA forensics and then interned with the police department. My DNA forensic training did not prepare me for one thing – the tedium. Don’t get me wrong – San Diego dna forensics is exciting at times, but there is also a lot of grunt work.

For every exciting fantastic lead that brings you straight to the ends of what seemed like an unsolvable murder case, there are dozens if not hundreds of repetitive mechanical things you have to do. You test and test again, hoping that one time you’ll find that piece of evidence that break the case wide open. Of course it is those breakthroughs that really make the job worth doing. Forensic dna in California is not flawless and mechanical as you might believe – it is an art as much as a science.

When you finally find the crucial DNA evidence it reflects positively on you, you forensic lab, your technology, and your skills as an investigator. You might be called upon to testify in court, or you might simply make an official report that gets filed away for later use. However it ends up, it is a thrill to know that you helped to clear the innocent and convict the guilty. It is what DNA forensic scientists live for. Still, before you become involved in DNA forensics, you should really talk to someone who works in the field.
If you want a job with constant action and excitement, this isn’t the one for you. Go into standard police work where you will get to work with the public out in the field. Dna forensic science of California is a much more sedate, methodical career. You spend most of your time in the lab, examining evidence. If you have an analytical mind and a lot of patience, however, it can be a great career.

Doing your tax deductible items in Carlsbad on your own can be risky, but you may even run some risk when you go to someone else to do your taxes. This means you should do some research on which tax deductible items that you can truly claim on your taxes, and which ones may raise red flags with the IRS. You should keep track of all of these things throughout the year so that you are not struggling to find what you need when it comes time to file your Carlsbad’s list of tax deductible items with the government. You should also make sure you have all that you need to protect yourself.

First, you should know your limits on tax deductible items. You may have some business lunches or dinners for your business, but you should not be claiming meals that have nothing to do with your work. There are many that do this, but they do get caught doing it from time to time. Keep it honest and there is nothing that can go wrong. The same can be said for buying things for your home and then claiming them as a business expense. That can really come back to haunt you in the future.

Instead, think about the scope of your business, and take all of the right deductions. If you have a business at home, you can claim office space if that is what you do exclusively in that space. You can also make your computer a tax deductible item as long as you use it for business all of the time. You may find that much of your supply stash is also a good choice as tax deductable items in San Diego. Other things that can be deducted from your taxes should follow the same guidelines. Make sure you use these things for your business, and they are all good to go.

Keeping track of San Diego’s tax deduction items should be done all throughout the year. Have a special notebook or program that you use for just that. Note each purchase and price, and then put the receipt in a special place so that you have them in one spot. If you have a lot to deal with, it might be in your best interest to keep them in folders for each month. That makes sorting through your items for tax deductions much easier to do when that stressful tax-filing time of the year comes up yet again. This time, you won’t be behind and you will be so much more relaxed about getting it right.
